# New Releases

In Theaters:
1. The Legend of Hercules: Gaia Weiss, Kellan Lutz, Roxanne McKee, Scott Adkins
In Ancient Greece 1200 B.C., a queen succumbs to the lust of Zeus to bear a son promised to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the king and restore peace to a land in hardship. But this prince, Hercules, knows nothing of his real identity or his destiny. He desires only one thing: the love of Hebe, Princess of Crete, who has been promised to his own brother. When Hercules learns of his greater purpose, he must choose: to flee with his true love or to fulfill his destiny and become the true hero of his time.
2. The Banshee Chapter:
When journalist Anne Roland (Katia Winter) goes looking for a missing friend, she uncovers the U.S. government’s most terrifying secret.
3.The Rocket: starring no one you’d know
A boy who is believed to bring bad luck to everyone around him leads his family and two new friends through Laos to find a new home. After a calamity-filled journey through a land scarred by the legacy of war, to prove he’s not bad luck he builds a giant rocket to enter the most exciting and dangerous competition of the year: the Rocket Festival.

1. Don’t Starve: Console Edition (PS4, PC)
You play as Wilson, an intrepid Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. Wilson must learn to exploit his environment and its inhabitants if he ever hopes to escape and find his way back home.
2. Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder (3DS)
Become one of the worlds best tiny robot helpers by doing your part to open a new museum. Collect Happy Points by vaccuming, picking up trash, and helping a cast of colorful characters, and then use those Happy Points to purchase special film that lets you photograph real-world objects and transport them into the game for the museums displays!
3. Grimm (PC)
The real meaning of the word fear… Once upon a time, fairy tales were valuable cautionary tales filled with dire warnings and wise advice. However, over time, the stories have become so watered down with cute woodland creatures and happy endings that they have lost their true meaning and purpose. No more!
4. Wii Fit U (Wii U)

Music:
1. Wig Out at Jagbags by Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks
The sixth release with the Jicks for the former Pavement frontman was inspired by his move to Berlin and was produced with Remko Schouten.
2. Join the Dots by TOY
The second full-length release for the Tom Dougall-led rock band was produced by Dan Carey.
3. Peter Gabriel Tribute Album: And I’ll Scratch Yours by Various Artists
The companion album to Peter Gabriel’s Scratch My Back features cover songs by artists he had covered on that 2010 release. (Lou Reed, Arcade Fire, Brian Eno, and more!)

DVD/Blu-Ray:

1. American Joyride – Blu/DVD – a young couple find themselves on the wrong side of a loan shark. Their solution is to try to turn themselves into reality TV stars, and help a drug dealer brother to pay the bills in the mean time. While poor decisions abound they are compounded when they find they are part of a revenge plot which may cost them everything.

2.The Act of Killing – Blu/DVD – A documentary about the strange celebration of a certain level of killer, a death squad leader. A person that has killed many and is celebrated. It is a very strange film that some critics are saying may change the way the documentary film format is viewed.
3. Closed Circuit – Blu/DVD – A suspense thriller about a high profile terrorist case, where two high powered lawyers are called in for the defense. The deeper they go into this case the more dangerous it becomes.
* Gone Dark – DVD – Five years after his death a man’s sister has taken “justice” into her own hands. But the truth is not what it seems, and it’s questionable if anyone will get out alive.
4.Inequality for All – Blu/DVD – A documentary about the expanding socioeconomic divide, as seen by Prof. Robert Reich. This author and former Clinton cabinet member aims to expose how this gap could lead the US into an unattainable future. – note – your political leanings may criticized in this film.
5. Living by the Gun – DVD – In the dust and chaos of the Wild West, a young woman’s quest for vengeance leaves a bloody road in her wake. Will the destruction of her uncle, the focus of her rage, calm her spirit?
6.An Ordinary Hero – DVD – This film tells the story of Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, a civil rights hero who at a young age inspired many others to rally to the cause. Even being in the Parchman Penitentiary death row could not stop her, this film celebrates the difference doing the right thing can be.
7.Runner Runner – Blu/DVD – The promise of unlimited wealth puts a grad student in dangerous game between “the house” and the Law.
8. We Are What We Are – Blu/DVD – The Parkers seem normal, if a bit reclusive. But this reclusion hides a dark secret.

DC:

1.Detective Comics #27 – An all star crew of creators take his oversized issue in a variety of directions, including a new story arc “Gothtopia”.
2.Vampire Diaries #1 – Based on the hit show from the CW, this will be an anthology series that allows creators to explore new areas of Mystic Falls.

Marvel:

1.Avengers World #1 – While The Avengers have returned to earth, the threats from beyond the stars have also. This new threat will cover the globe and earth and her mightiest heroes will face a challenge that will alter everything.
2.Black Widow #1 – When she isn’t saving the world with the Avengers, Nastasha Romanov seeks to absolve her soul of her dark past. This new series will explore just how far she go to set things right.

Not the Big 2:

1.Star Wars #13 – Dark Horse – Prisoner escapes and Rebel victories are not in the plan, and Lord Vader is going to purge the weakness from The Empire!
2.X-Files Season 10 #8 – IDW – Mysteries, conspiracies, and secret organizations Mulder and Scully have their hands full
3. The Walking Dead #119 – Image Comics – Part 5 of All Out War
4. Adventure Time: Flip Side #1 – While Finn and Jake seek to fill their free time with Adventure Time, they may have bitten off more than they can chew with this latest adventure.

  •  Daft Punk – Random Access Memories – and the myriad of YouTube covers of _Get Lucky_

  • Friends self published books Lit Knits and The Illuminator’s Gift
  • Ender’s Game – three cheers for making a good movie out of a difficult book
  •  Catching Fire – resurrecting and improving a movie with a sequel instead of just continuing it

* Joe

  • Tomb Raider – the latest reboot, liked that death was impactful, that the character and environment worked really well together
  • Charlie Murder – a simple brawler that is tons of fun, the powerups and things were consistent to the world, surprising amount of depth in character advancement
  • The day before SDCC begins
  • The release of Xbox One – finally a new system after 8 years, and the voice commands
  • Playing Gone Home during Extra Life(The entire Extra Life event itself too)

  •  Gravity – see it on the biggest screen you can
  • Man of Steel – staggered, since before this didn’t care about Superman
  •  Call of Duty: Ghosts – totally nailed how you relate to the dog, actually tempted by campaign mode because of the dog
  • Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon – definitive 80’s retro video game, humor and joy abound and Joe liked the soundtrack
  • Tfal Active Fry – fry food with 1 tablespoon of oil(One of Oprah’s favorite things)
