Caleb’s Corner:

The Core:

Movies:

  • New Releases 10/11/2012 www.fandango.com

DVD/Blu-ray:

  • Prometheus (blu/dvd) – Ridly Scott’s latest foray into the world of Alien. No word on if this release is the “director’s cut”
  • Mortal Kombat (blu) – Kan’t not mention this bit of “awesome” video game to movie transitions, still better than Street Fighter
  • E.T. The Extra Terrestrial: Anniversay Edition (blu/dvd) – Remastered from the original film stock for HD. Dumps the dumb edits that were added in for the theatrical release a few years ago
  • The Rock: Action Pack (blu/dvd) – Doom, The Scorpion King, and The Rundown; a collection of the charmingly charismatic Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
  • What Ever Happened to Baby Jane: 50th Anniversay Edition – A classic remastered for the modern age. Video Games:

 Indie:
  • Transfusion #1 – Post apocolyptic horror, monsters and robots!

  • New Releases 10/4/2012 www.fandango.com

DVD/Blu-ray:

  • Cinderella (blu/dvd) – This Disney classic gets dolled up for Blu-Ray
  • Batman Triple Feature (dvd) – Set contains three animated features – Batman Gotham Knight, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Batman: Year One. All are quite good and worth picking up.

  • Dark Star – Thermostellar Edition (blu) – This film (mentioned in episode 36 of Robots Attack) has been cleaned up for Blu-ray
  • Flying Swords of Dragon Gate (blu/dvd) – Jet Li in anoter martial arts epic, what’s not to like, chinese dialog with english subtitles
  • Iron Sky (blu/dvd) – I mentioned it awhile back as a crowd funded feature film, it’s completed and while I don’t remember it making it into a theatre near me but whatever, it can now be redboxed. So we all can see the reich strike back as the cover says

Video Games:

Comics:

Marvel:

  • Dare Devil: End of Days #1 – Story of the death of Dare Devil – not the end of the series just a look a one way that Matt Murdock might go out.
  • The Amazing Spider-Man # 695 – As the title bears down on #700 some old faces return as The Kingpin and Hobgoblin return to make Peter’s life more difficult.

 DC:

  • Fairest #8 – This spin off of the Fables line focuses more on the “Princess” tales. This issue begins Repunzel’s story, making it an excellent point to jump in. Story by Lauren Beukes and Art by Inaki Miranda
  • I Vampire vol.1: Tainted Love – First collection of the acclaimed horror series
 Indie:
  • Doctor Who #1 – The ongoing comic launches
  • Fashion Beast #2 – A new spin on the Beauty and the Beast story, written by Alan Moore & Malcome McLaren with fantastic art by Facundo Percio
  • Lone Ranger #10 – With the film’s teaser trailer out it might be good to bone up on the story of this masked hero
  • Pathfinder #2 – Set in the universe of the table top RPG of the same name, a high fantasy adventure
Web:
  • Spinnerette – A fun take on the super hero genre, the title character is a biology student who was shot with a ray that combined her DNA with a spider. While the origin isn’t “new” the characters are pretty well written and the story is fun. It should be noted that it can be a little “fan service”-y.  http://www.spinnyverse.com/
