  • Is currently laid up with a minor corrective foot surgery, related to the stitches acquired a few weeks ago. Everything went fine and I’m not feeling much pain, will probably be back next week.

  • Don’t Breathe – A trio of friends break into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist. They’re wrong.
  • Hands of Stone – The legendary Roberto Duran and his equally legendary trainer Ray Arcel change each other’s lives.
  • Mechanic: Resurrection – Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) returns as the Mechanic in the sequel to the 2011 action thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman (Jessica Alba) force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.
  • Complete Unknown – This shape-shifting tale of the perils and pleasures of self-reinvention begins at a dinner party, when Tom’s (Michael Shannon) co-worker arrives with an intriguing date named Alice (Rachel Weisz). Tom is convinced he knows her, but she refuses to acknowledge their history. And when Alice makes a hasty exit, Tom sets off after her. What follows is an all-night odyssey shared by two people, one needing to change his life, the other questioning how to stop changing.


  • Total Depravity by The Veils – The fifth full-length release for the London-based band led by Finn Andrews was co-produced by El-P and Adam “Atom” Greenspan.
  • Mangy Love by Cass McCombs – The eighth full-length release for the California singer-songwriter features contributions from Angel Olsen and Blake Mills, with production by Rob Schnapf and Dan Horne.
  • And the Anonymous Nobody by De La Soul – The eighth full-length release for the hip hop trio was funded by Kickstarter campaign and features guest appearances from 2 Chainz, Damon Albarn, David Byrne, Estelle, Justin Hawkins, Little Dragon, Roc Marciano, Pete Rock, Jill Scott, Snoop Dogg, and Usher.
  • Phase Zero by Morgan Delt – This is the second full-length release for the California psych-rock singer-songwriter.

  • The Nice Guys – Shane Black returns to directing in a story about a private investigator and a local enforcer who join forces to investigate a missing girl, and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star.
  • Sunset Song – DVD – Based on a 1932 novel about a young Scottish woman that grows up on a farm in the early 20th century. The lead actress, Agyness Deyn, has be praised for her performance.
  • Weiner – DVD – A documentary about the Congressman’s fall from grace and he unfortunate bid for mayor-ship of New York.
  • Wiener-Dog – (not related to the previous movie at all) – is a four part anthology of stories about a dachshund and the related people.



  • The Flash #5 – The Rebirth arc continues, in this case Barry gets a little time off from protecting Central City, now that there is a squad of speedsters to help keep things in check. Also Wally West is stretching his legs a bit as Kid Flash.


  • Star Wars #22 – The Harbinger is one of the pinnacles of the Imperial armada. Being at the top does may it a target, and the Rebellion has their sights set on taking it down!

Dark Horse

  • Conan the Slayer #2 – The Kozaki are known to be dangerous, and while Conan seems to have won their over all favor, he seems to be making an enemy of one of the chief’s sons. Mostly because he as been mentoring the other son of the chief, now the rivalry may have consequences that affect the whole tribe.


  • Outcast #20 – There is something different about Allison’s daughter, and the reality of is really starting to sink in. Meanwhile Kyle’s whereabouts are still a mystery.


  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #61 – A new story arc begins! While the turtles are recovering from the close of the previous chapter, they are challenged by a new group, the “Street Phantoms”. (Also Good on ya TMNT five years and counting!)

Cometbus 57 is the book about comics that must not be missed.

This came in last week, but Study Group Magazine #4 is the comics magazine of the year. Essential.
